Last game you bailed on?

What game most recently had you bail on it for any reason, what why?

My last two weren’t even a quality thing, more just I had my fill and the challenge beyond isn’t enticing anymore:

  1. Silksong: FORGIVE ME @SHAPELYCHOPS! Incredible game, destroyed my thumbs, and gave me like 40 hours I won’t soon forget. But, I got about halfway through The Citadel and bailed xD. I’d proven enough to make me feel good, and was happy with the amount of story I got to experience. I do feel like I quit on a hot ones episode though.
  2. MGS1: Okay I last played this like a week ago, but I don’t currently foresee how I’m going to overcome this spiral staircase of death I’ve gotten to. With the top-down view I can’t see enemies in front of me or behind me as I go on these stairs, and can’t aim toward them either. If I didn’t already know the story and ending perhaps I would put up with terrible game mechanics, but alas I know why the darpa chief died… I know Miller’s secrets…
  3. Earthbound: Sorry @AceBonanza! I never get far past Onett. One of these days though, maybe when we start livestreaming.

Sometimes I’ll bail on a game, come back to it years later, and that’s when it all clicks into place. Bloodborne was like that for me, I got hard stuck at the first zone not understanding what the game wanted from me (exploring every inch of the starting area) and was like “why am I not stomping the first boss?” But coming back to it after Elden Ring, I knew the format much better and finished the game in a few weeks.
As for Silksong, honestly Act II is the best part of the game, it gets so much tougher by the end. Some of those fights are frustrating, but some are absolute top tier. And you’re so right about destroying your thumbs on it! I haven’t had finger callouses like that since the days I played bass regularly!
